HMS Diadem

the diary of signalman John Emrys Williams

Edward George Christopher

Sometimes information about HMS Diadem surfaces in the least likely places. Here's an old ended auction listing from eBay for items from the estate of Edward George Christopher who served HMS DIADEM from 9 December 1943 to 27 November 1945. Unfortunately, as the auction is long over, eBay have removed the photos from their site, but the text below may be of interest:

From eBay:

Scare & Interesting group of 3 Photographs relating to WW2 from the estate of a Royal Navy Serviceman who served HMS DIADEM from 9 December 1943 to 27 November 1945. These photographs were taken during May 1945 when HMS DIADEM was docked at Copenhagen, Denmark. The large photograph is a high quality official photograph (the image size is approximately 23 x 17cm and mounted on a larger backing board) of HMS DIADEM docked at Copenhagen Harbour. The two smaller black and white photographs are interesting being images of "Copenhagen Resistence Group 1944 - 45" according the annotation on the rear of the larger photograph (14.5 x 9cm), it should be noted that this is a later copy made by the person whose estate these items came from, the smaller image is an original and although not marked shows at least one of the same people who appears in the larger image. Nevertheless attributable photographs of resistence figthers with this type of provenance are rare. That said please read carefully the notes below prior to bidding to satisfy yourself of the provenance and exactly what you are bidding for. The whereabouts of the original to the larger photo is unknown and has not as far as I can find been included with the large number of items I received from this gentleman's estate.
