HMS
Diadem
the diary of signalman John Emrys Williams
Here's
a message that arrived via email from
Mrs Anne Altomare:
"My
father lives in Eastbourne, East Sussex. This year he celebrates
his 90th birthday. He was a torpedo operator on HMS Diadem. He was
on the Russian Convoys until 1944 and served in the Invasion. As
a child and still today my father talks of the extreme cold which
seemed to get into his very bones, also the huge seas. His name
is James William Prophet and must be one of a few old sailors left
alive. I am his very proud daughter."
Regards
