How I learned to read Sinhala language text characters when living in Sri Lanka

When I lived and worked in Colombo in 1995/6, I wanted to be able to read the roadsigns. These cards are my little crib sheets I made and used to help me do this. I imagined every letter as a character whose name matche the sound of the letter. If you're planning a trip to Sri Lanka and you want to be able to read the signs out aloud, I hope they can be useful to you now too.
